Faith Leading to an Excellent Service
At the beginning of a new year, it has been a tradition of the church to hold an annual thanksgiving service. It is an avenue for members of the church as well as for friends and visitors to express thanks unto the Lord God for the past 365 days.
The PMCC (4thWatch) Singapore locale held their Annual Thanksgiving on first Sunday of February 2013 with the theme “Faith Leading to an Excellent Service”. Gratefully welcoming back the Nazareth (Southeast Asia) Coordinator Ptr. Let Ferriol as their guest speaker, the Singapore brethren were very glad and eager to have fellowship from the day she landed at the Changi airport to welcoming night until the special Thanksgiving Day (Feb. 03, 2013).
“This is a significant practice for God’s children”, said Ptr.Let in her opening statement on that Sunday service. She continued that “as children of God, we want to express our thanks to our Creator and Savior… just as in the time of Noah, after the flood, the very first thing that Noah did was to worship and thank God.”[pullquote align=”left”]as children of God, we want to express our thanks to our Creator and Savior… just as in the time of Noah, after the flood, the very first thing that Noah did was to worship and thank God[/pullquote]
And thanking God should be our our main response
In her message, she stressed the need for our response to God’s favor basically the salvation we received. More often than not, people tend to forget their giving thanks unto God. The “give-back” attitude is sometimes taken for granted without realizing the kindness of the highest being we should thank for.
In Hebrew 11:6, there is an important element that is required whenever we come to God, more so when we give thanks to Him, and that is FAITH. It is worth noting and repeating that “true faith comes through hearing and hearing the word of God from whom God has sent” (Romans 10:14-15 & 17).
Ptr.Let added that faith is a demonstration of our genuine trust in, confidence and reliance upon God. She further mentioned that while faith is intangible, it can be shown or proven through our deeds (Colossians 3:17 & 23), our actions (James 2:17-18) and our service (1Thessalonians 1:3). In other word, faith is always accompanied by our work and service; an example of such is our thanksgiving and worship service to Him.
In conclusion, she emphasized the faith and thanksgiving – the latter as an excellent way of serving God to manifest the former.
This Thanksgiving day was attended by about 85 brethren and 11 visitors, three of them get baptized on that special day.
Praise and thanks be to GOD!
