“ Kawan Day in SG 2015 “

By: Sis Alma Victoria

“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace”. The passage in the book of Ephesians is a clear epitome of the seven “kawans” of Singapore locale through the recently concluded Kawan Sunday Presentation on 12th April 2015.

As the brethren entered the worship hall with their respective kawans, excitement and joy can be felt in the air. Though the amount of time to have practices are so limited, the kawans of Antioch, Berea, Bethel, Jerusalem, Mizpah, Peniel and Philippi made great efforts to deliver their original renditions to the song “Thank You” by Ray Boltz. In God’s grace, the locale church of Singapore is truly blessed by the Lord with so many talents as the kawans devoured in singing, acting, dancing, mime, sign language and even shadow-play in the attempt to bag the prize.

At the end of Sis Donna Robles’ message, though tired with so much anticipation, the brethren’s hearts are warmed with the Lord’s promise – that, all works done for Him will not be in vain. So as this friendly competition comes to the edge, the crowd’s anxiety level begins to rise when Sis Hiyasmin Martin announced the winners. In 3rd place was the Kawan of Bethel, headed by Sis Joy Costa; the 2nd place was the Kawan of Antioch, headed by Bro Christian Escuadro; and, the 1st placer was the Kawan of Berea, which is headed by Sis Alma Cruz.

It is indeed true, at the end of that Kawan Day, that there is a unity in diversity and the over-all competition is turned into joyful cooperation as there is only one spirit working in the midst of the brethren in Singapore. In line with what Apostle Arsenio Tan Ferriol said, it is also concluded that with the unity in faith of each and every kawan member, a great task will be accomplished. To God be all the glory!
